TIPS AND IDEAS |
Keeping Your Sense of Humor Can Get You Through a Lot of Tough Times
Melissa and I have truly been blessed to meet so many caring families living with Type 1 Diabetes too. A couple of our New Zealand friends, Sharon and her daughter Rachael, watched our Type 1 Mom Song music video on You Tube and then linked over and signed up for our e-News. Rachael had just recently been diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and the song struck a chord with them.
Sharon and Rachael are spirits cut from the same cloth as we are and they wrote a poem about Rachael’s experience with injections. We thought you would enjoy reading it as much as we did.
Needles, Bloody Needles
My tummy has a lot of holes
From sticking needles in
I wish that there was somewhere else
But I've got really thin
I have to stick them in some fat
The best place is my tum
But they have said that I can also
Stick them in my bum
Oh no! I cannot reach that place
I'm scared that I will maim
My bottom that I sit upon
I can't see where to aim
If only I could twist around
To face my back instead
Perhaps I could inject my bum
While standing on my head!

PRODUCT UPDATES |
For our Toddler Tank purchasers, the wait will be over soon. The tanks are being sewn as I write this. We expect to take delivery on the tanks by the third week in July. As soon as we have them in hand, we will turn around and ship them out. Over the next week, we will be contacting you by phone or email to verify the size you need us to ship. It has taken an inordinate amount of time to get the sizing correct on this updated product and we appreciate you sticking with us. From this point forward, we will have Toddler Tanks available up to size 5T. We have designed our product lines of Boxer Briefs, Cami Bras and Youth Tanks to be the undergarments that your child grows into after they have outgrown the Toddler Tanks.
Even though we have introduced in 2008 our Boy's and Men's Boxer Briefs, our redesigned Women's Cami Bra and will shortly have our updated Toddler Tanks; we are not done yet. Our manufacturer is working on samples of new products that we may be able to bring out by the last quarter of 2008. We will keep you in the loop.

FDA Approves Pump with Remote Insulin Delivery Capabilities
Animas Corp. received Food and Drug Administration clearance July 1, 2008 to market the company's OneTouch Ping glucose management system.
The West Chester, Pa., medical device company said the OneTouch Ping is the first "full-feature insulin pump that wirelessly communicates with a blood glucose meter-remote. "OneTouch Ping will be available for shipment in mid-August 2008. Customers can order at any time by calling 1-877-937-7867 or visit www.animascorp.com.
Diabetics using the device can calculate insulin doses and opt to wirelessly instruct the pump to deliver the dosage to them without ever touching the pump, which company officials said will give patients more freedom and flexibility.
In addition, the company said, the OneTouch Ping can be "clipped to a belt, tucked in a pocket, or secured under clothing" and is waterproof up to 12 feet of depth and for up to 24 hours.
In our little Kangaroo Pump Pocket world, we are so excited to see this technology become available. Our customers will be able to put pumps in their Kangaroo Pump Pocket clothing and get on with their lives. Now when you test with your meter, you simply input the amount of insulin to bolus, the amount is sent wirelessly to the pump, and put your meter away. Incredible!
