TIPS AND IDEAS

Latest in Wound Care

I was online last week looking at all of the latest and greatest in diabetic care and ran across this new type of bandage. My girls do not have issues with sores on their feet, but many of you might. This product looks like a good thing to know about in case a problem does arise. It appears to have been approved for the market in September of 2008 but it is not yet available in stores.

The Healfast is a conceptual design that uses a weak electronic field to prevent infection in the tissues surrounding a wound. This allows the body to heal the wound faster because the body would not have to fight through layers of infected tissue beforehand.

PRODUCT UPDATES

We want to thank everyone that took time to respond to our Women's Tank survey. Your responses were extremely helpful in guiding our final decision. We have to work with our manufacturer now to design a product that will be visually appealing, while putting a pocket on this adult shirt. Based on our typical production timetable, we should be bringing this to market late 2009, or early 2010. Again, thank you for offering us your input.

A quick update for our Toddler Tank customers. We are placing a reorder for our Toddler Tank collection. In speaking with our manurfacturer, it will take approximately 8 weeks for us to receive them. However, based on our current inventory levels, we may go "out of stock" on a couple of sizes. We only mention this so that our current customers that may be ready to move to the next size in another month can make a purchase and not be on backorder.

DIABETES WORLD SEARCH
TrialNet

TrialNet mainly conducts two types of studies:
1. Studies for people who do not have type 1 diabetes, but are at increased risk because they have a family member with the disease. The purpose of this type of study is to tell if a person is at risk by doing a blood test. Certain proteins show up in the blood up to 10 years before a person develops diabetes.
2. Studies for those recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (within 100 days). The goal is of these studies is to test ways to help people continue to make their own insulin for as long as possible. New studies are currently being planned.
